I thought I would start with some thoughts on where I’m at right now by answering the following questions…
How am I feeling right now?
Excited to be back in the studio! I have several projects on the go – a few too many – and am in the process of deciding which ones to work on first and others to be kept on the back burner. I’m feeling positive that this year will be challenging and also bring great things.
Saddened by the loss of bell hooks and Joan Didion. And looking forward to reading the writers that will surface to fill this void.
What do I need right now?
Some calm and quiet. Just to feel my way ahead, there are decisions to be made about the upcoming NARS residency that I need to listen to my intuition about.
What am I experimenting with right now?
Writing. I think it will be prose rather than poetry, but who knows anything could happen.
What am I working on right now?
I have narrowed things down to 3 projects to start with.
- Continuing the Garden Log by taking an image a day of the garden.
- Restarting a project I’m currently calling “Weather Diary” where I’m videoing a self-portrait each day for 3 minutes in a similar way Andy Warhol filmed his Screen Tests of visitors to his studio. 3 minutes was the length of film he used at the time.
- Researching and writing for the school walk project I started last year when I repeatedly walking the route from my childhood home to school with my mothers camera.
